Saturday afternoon found me takin' care of some personal stuff. It was an all's-well-that-ends-well so I figured since I'm here in New York I might as well take up on the invitation I got from Lady Blue and head on over to The Pyramid.

I gotta admit my connections were excellent...I was literally at the entrance by 10:10 (which is rare for me with the MTA). I met John at the door who intro’d me to a couple of his friends. He had said something to me that totally floored me...I’m not sure if I should repeat it here but I will say it meant a lot to hear it. I was truly humbled. I went downstairs to pass off daps and hugs to the DJs and Regulars before headin’ back up for a taste of some classic joints. It was good to hear Blondie’s “Rapture” as well as INXS’ “One Of My Kind”...I tells ya, that snare is one to die for! There’s this pretty who frequents The Pyramid’s main floor that’s been catchin’ my eye as of late so it’s a motivator of sorts to loosen up in her presence (translation: show off my wares...yep, I'm a dawg). I do my little Irish jig, bow, and leave...both the floor and a mental “mark”. We will dance together one of these nights (damn, that sounds like a lot of ego perculatin’ in that sentence!), but for now I’m happy to share floor space with her.

Back downstairs to start this thing off. I took to the BlackReds and joined my fellow PATHer Bianca, who was already in dance mode. It was pretty empty at the time so we pretty much reveled in the freedom of it all. Soon we were joined by this cat who was in some sort of uniform (I won’t lie, at first glance I thought it was German but it was actually blue with red trim...my sincerest apologies for my ig’nance). This is why I love New York clubs...you never know what you’re gonna see (I’m still buggin’ on the skull worshipper). He came out and did his thing next to us...his hat kept fallin’ off but it didn’t deter him too much. Then I sees Lady Blue and The Kaos King Himself...it was all good from there. I don’t remember who was playin’ at the time...I thought it was The 5witch but then I also saw The Stalag on as well...but it was a nicely paced set.

As the night went on I began to notice somethin’ about me was not right...other than my cold, that is. After a few seconds of hard thought it I figured it out: it was what I was wearin’! I always wear my White Tims on Saturday nights and every now and then I break out the white pants but it was more the shirt I chose to wear with ‘em: a white Ecko shirt with black sleeves. It’s a cool look in the daylight hours but in a dark room with some blacklights I was positively glowing! Even I had to say to myself, “Oh dayam!”...I must’ve blinded poor Bianca and maybe a few other folks wthin eyesight! All I had goin’ in my head was that old line from a Bug Bunny cartoon where Daffy was sayin’, “Oh no....not again...sorry!” If I do wear that joint again it will be heavily contrasted...count on it!

Once I got over the embarrassment of literally standin’ out like a sore thumb (insert pulsations here) I focused on gettin’ back into the music. I believe Sol was up next and he dropped his brand of SureFires and new joints alike (new to me, anyways) and I fed off the energies of The Advct, Swabbs (he was rockin’ some pole moves kinda crazy!), JD (who I just met), Blue and Kaos (I can’t front on that eight-step of his...it’s just beast!) as well as all-too-familiar (and all-too-dangerous) gyrations of Mz HipLash...sigh...I love her...I wanna be her boyfriend. She just does things with that body that is...I...um, let’s move on. At one point Sol’s bringin’ in another cut and while I didn’t know it right off it sounded awfully familiar. Then the following words cold hit me in my forehead: “Tell me how to feel / tell me what is real...” Oh dayam...it was Ayria’s “Cutting”! OH DAYAM!! The reason I did hear it before was that I actually requested it a few weeks ago on Rivet Kitten’s radio show...she said it was the original (which Sol was playin’) and all this time I've been playin' the remixed version at home! Just the same it was great to actually hear it in a club setting! Needless to say I got all up in my Vynilized poses and just reveled in the song...people thought I pretty much lost my mind. I’ve got to give you props bringin’ that one out, John (and props to Triple A for intro’n me to the artist in the first place)! Wow...I effin’ danced to “Cutting”!

Bein’ as amped as I was now (and seein’ how crowded it got...I didn’t even notice) , it was nothin’ but good timin’ when The 5witch stepped up to the podium. Better take my glasses off for this...no tellin’ what kinda teeth grinders he’s gonna bring out! Sure enough, they came! Among the regulars came a couple of Lenny’s boys, and they just took it there with the usual loveliness! I’m thinkin’ that this would be a good time for Jai to drop a Cenotype joint and I swear, 10 seconds into my thought, he does: “Pieces”! Aw, man, don’t even talk to me now...I’m hit! I’m all up in the madness on the BlackReds just eatin’ up any open spot, which was not much! Then two cuts later, another Cenotype fave: “Requiem”! I don’t know where I even found my voice...I could barely talk with my cold as it was...but when it dropped but I was screamin’ from the top of my lungs! I wanted everyone to join me on this one and I wanted no half-steppers around me. I got what I wanted, from Lenny’s boys, my regulars, the newbies...crowd participation at its best! THIS is how it s’posed to go down! Soon Jai took his bone grinders off and I stepped to the side to take a well-deserved (and well-needed) breather....I still got my last AG episode on the brain (where I totally cramped up from “Sinistar”) and I’m listenin’ to my body this time!

After a TakeDown time of water and Pepsi I played to the sides and watched the peoples get theirs on while I waited for Advct’s run. It was kinda hard not to dance...there a few cuts that were played that I really wanted to rip into...but I had to pace myself (I’m such an audio junkie!). Seein’ my fellow Quixotees Val Jesus, Joey Dark and The OverTop eatin’ up real estate didn’t help matters either...I wanted to join them in the worst way! While I’m on the sides recuperatin’ who should step up but Lenny Himself! I was literally speechless! I was in total fan mode...I couldn’t help it! I felt like an idiot ‘cause he has to stoop down to hear me, but hear what? I couldn’t even talk! Still he understood and was kewl with it. As he walked off I started to wonder: “Hey...was he here when they were playin’ his joints?” That would mean he probably saw and heard me and...oh dayam..."....embarrassed again! Soon Ad gets on and he drops his style on the masses. Songs that a mixture of rock, hip hop and dust...I hated that my neck was gettin’ all the fun while my body was screamin’ for me to get on the BlackReds.. By 20 minutes I couldn’t take it anymore...I’m goin’ out hard, and if it hurts, so be it. I took to the floor consciously at first but after findin’ a groove that would be pain free it was all good....until he dropped “February War”! Oh dayam! On comes Blue, Kaos, and it was on from “Standin’ on the corner wastin’ my life / waitin’ for the busssss!” We. Ripped. It. We were even joined by The Blue Uniform! I was like, “Oh sh-!” He was most definitely welcome to wil’ out with us! The Ad cheered us on from the stand and the crowd were just in awe of what we were doin’ to this song (some were even cheerin’ us on as well!). Six minutes later, I was done. Sweaty hugs and daps to the participants involved (definitely one to The Blue Uniform). We took the Rabbit, and we kilt it!

I took another breather and watched as the Regulars did their thing to a Stalag set (big ups to Lady Heather for hittin' me off with the signature kick...yes, Lenny, I'm hatin'...why do you ask?). At one point Mz HipLash comes on again and for some reason I had to get out there with her...I just had to. I followed her moves and soon I was in my own zone with this crazy song...I didn’t know what it was but I could not stop flexin’ to it...I mean I totally ran with it! All I saw was flashes of my bright-ass shirt...The Human Glowstick was losin' his damn mind! Soon after a small mini-run on the floor it was time to make my way back to Paterson. Daps, hugs, and photos were taken, thanx were given, requests to return were offered and...I was out.

The moral/lesson of this blog/story: wear more darks and not so much damn white!

Yeesh.

As much as I would like to take cred, I didn't drop any Cenotype tracks. That was Hellraver.

By the bi, I was gonna spin your track. I like it, and it reminds me of Monolith. I'm gonna see if they blend well together, and if so, you can expect me to spin it as soon as the 8th. :D
