Welp, I never thought I'd be sayin' these words: I had a horrible time at AG!

Don't get me wrong, it had nothin' to do with them at all...they stepped up to the plate and then some...it was behind the scenes that made the night just awful. I had to work Saturday afternoon (with only 5 hours of sleep from my usual Friday run), no lunch, and nutty customers losin' their minds over trivial stuff, plus some personal stuff I had to take care of (which I can't divulge here). I thought it was get better when I left at 8-ish...which got me into NY by 9. I had time to kill so I took in the sights as usual. With only a 20-minute ride I should be at The Pyramid by 10, easy. I boards the F train and get lost in my MP3 player.

Biiig mistake on my part.

I happened to look up....huh?..."Broadway-Nassau"?....next stop....."York Street"? I just realized I'm goin' downtown, alright...Downtown Brooklyn!! Seems the F has been re-routed to the A line for the weekend, which was posted but I didn't notice until it was too late! So I had to get off at Jay-Boro and take a s l o w - a s s train back to West 4th. From here I found out that I had to take a B to Broadway-Lafayette (no trains to Second Ave) and walk from there. Natch, with my "navigational skills" (remember the Holland Tunnel, folks) I got all turned around and lost, so by the time I got to AG it was already 11:35!! Needless to say I was truly, truly pissed about that, 'specially when I head I missed a Dyzz set! Effin' arrrgh!

From there it was desperately tryin' to play catch up. I ran upstairs to get my sway on but everything was soundin' stale as hell....the only grace was seein' The Pyramidic One doin' her thing. I grumbled back downstairs and dove head first into a Sol set, who I believe was literally tryin' to kill me! Them damn tunes were so hyper-kinetic it was all I could do to keep up! The bad thing was, even though I was dancin', I was still mentally out of sync. This would be the theme throughout the night....soon as I got into Sol's goods, he was done. The same was with Stalag's and Advct's as well. As good as their sets were I could not find my groove for the life of me, which got me even madder 'cause that meant I was goin' thru the motions with them...and I personally find that disrespectful. I even noticed...way too late...that The Pyramidic One was peepin' me out from the bar. Just...effin'...great. It got to the point where I just stopped and stepped outside to clear my head a bit and cop a drink from across the street..and even that worked against me! Seems the drink I had was a tad spoiled...ugh! I was too pissed to even go back and argue over that...I just took the loss and headed back inside.

I decided to try the main floor again but it was too crowded with folks (for one) and watchin' two shirtless cats lip-sync and vogue on the stage (for two) was just too much for the mental to handle (I'll never hear "Don't You Want Me" and "Billie Jean"...yes, "Billie Jean"...the same way again). Even seein' The Pyramidic One with her mans...which usually never bothered me...was just icing on an already rotten cake.

Slowly but surely, I was begiinnin' to show signs of gettin' out of my funk, timed right by an awesome 5witch set and some assistance from Sol, EssoEss The AnkleBreaker, The Potter, The Double R (that would be the Rock and Roll Vampire), The Little One and her peoples, Spaz, and...sigh...The Shiny One. And just when I was on the cusp of bein' my old self....The 5witch was done! Dammit! I'm still one step behind these guys! I decided to call it a wrap and grab a slice of Ray's Pizza, which helped a little. Then it was back for TakeDown and watched the peoples until it was time to head on out....in the damn rain, no less. With no umbrella my poor porkpie got it good.

Guess even a VynilRob can have an off weekend.

My apologies to AG for not reppin' the way I should have...these guys put in work week after week and to not fully appreciate what they do really irked me. Big ups to those that showed from the Jersey side of town...it was good to see some familiar faces so that softened the blow some.

I'ma make sure this won't happen again...even if I have to stay home.

Ugh.
