After the low turnout of Straynoise in New York on Friday I was determined to make this last night of my vacation count. I was more than sure that a trip to The Pyramid would fill the bill, even more so for the reasons behind it: to continue the celebration of The 5witch's Birf'day and to honor the memory of his moms, Bessy D. Abrego.

I had overslept a little so my slow start and lousy connections got me into New York by 11. After passin' off daps to Sol (whose first set I just missed by minutes) I headed to the floor to get a quick taste of "Sparrows" alongside The Pyramidic One Herself. Always a pleasure to be in her presence, it is. Soon it was downstairs to begin The Run. After meetin' some Jai's extended family and a few more daps and hugs to fellow Guilders and Quixotees it was off to the floor to get into Advct's set and enjoy The BlackReds...to a Spanish version of "Pump Up The Jam", no less! In less than ten minutes I was sweatin' like a faucet...maybe a little too much! I was so drenched that I was whippin' off beads in all directions...I had to monitor the liquids consciously lest I offend someone's person (or their drink...ewww!) Soon I was joined by none other than Mz Alvin Ailey, who pretty much just put it down as hard as I was! I don't know if was dancin' with me or tryin' to show me up but it didn't matter...the energy was there and I fed off of it lovely!

Soon The Stalag gets up on the audio podium and begins doin' his thing. I have to admit, this was one of the best sets I've ever heard from him! He was killin' it, folks...y'hear me? KILLIN' it! Every cut he played was like it was tailor-made for me! He even dropped a unheard-of banger on me that was just ridiculous...it pretty much put me on a higher plane than I already was!

Then I was exposed to a treat I haven't had in a while: a Dyzz/5witch Battle! If you're not familiar with this, then you need to be! These cats try to one-up each other by playin' whatever song to go with whoever dropped the previous. The result was just pure insanity! SureFires and Unknowns had me just all over that floor like whoa! If I didn't know any better, I'd think they were teamin' up to take me out! Luckily I had my fellow PATHer Bianca, The Shiny One and her friend to assist me thru the audio onslaught. It was just...effin'...crazy!

At one point Jai dropped a song dedicated to his moms...I didn't get the title but I made sure I listened intently for the lyrics...I think it was important that I did. It wasn't a slow sappy-like song but it was definitely an emotional piece...pretty much made its mark on me. Before he went back into the goods I stopped to give his propers and respect due for his moms. The battle went on for a while before I took a quick outside break.

Back inside for some more mayhem. It was great to see Cub on the 1 and 2's, even more I was there to dance to it. I've been neglectin' his sets as of late so I felt obligated to make up for it. He dropped it on us lovely, I tells ya! It's still hard to hear him play in that style, what with how he gets down on Fridays in Jersey...but I'm gettin' the hang of it! He brought out some joints I never heard of as well as a few Q Usuals so it was all good! After a while I stepped out again to get my nourishment of pizza and Orangeade...scrum-dilly!

Back inside for my last run. Sol comes on for his second set, and he kept it poppin'! I'm not one who try to make requests on the spot (I usually mail them in) but I had to hear him play The Chrome Remix...and when he dropped it I was just gone! I was hyped up to no end and I wasn't gonna stop until every BlackRed in my area was chipped! This cut just gets better and better every time I hear it! Big ups to Mz Ailey for totally annihilatin' her spot as well...she just blacked out right alongside me all the way thru the piece! Thoroughly satisfied for the night I chilled on the sidelines with The Shiny One and prodded her with questions about her friend until I heard The Advct drop...an industrailized remix of "Party Like A Rock Star"?? That's it for me...I'm out! I changed tops, said my goodbyes and thanx and headed for the F.

Good night...very good night! Thanx to all that showed, much love to the DJs and the peoples I met. Nods towards Bianca, The Shiny One and company for the dances as well as the folks present.

To Jai, I hope you're doin' better now. To Mz Bessy, it was a pleasure to dance in your honor.

Vynil Out.
