Ah, my first foray into New York for the 8-Ball. What better way than to start it by breezin' thru AG's one-year run at The Pyramid?

Got there later than I had wanted to 'cause for some reason the 190 didn't leave until 9pm even though it clearly stated on the schedule he was s'posed to be NY-bound at 8:50 (and yes I was on time)...grrr...I headed straight to the main floor 'cause the one thing I digs about gettin' there early is that the DJs play some serious joints, and I get a nearly empty floor to warm up on (and pimp my moves to Lady Unattainable). Not this time. The floor's packed with peoples and I could only see my "betrothed" thru the spaces of the spastic bodies. Grrr again. Once Abba's "Take A Chance On Me" came on...whoops! Time to get downstairs!

I walks in on a Stalag set and an empty floor...where was everyone? Why, in the back room, plottin' the night out. I gave daps and hugs to Sol, The 5witch, The Dyzz (the other reason why I came), Advct, Lady Blue and...oh, dayam...Mz HipLash. Sigh...I wanna have her babies. After pickin' up what was left of my jaw I went back out onto the floor to "meditate" on the BlackReds. It was kinda slow goin' at first...I was still stuck in "rassam frassam" mode by the jerk move of NJ Transit but eventually I started gettin' the feel of things. Soon I'm joined by King Kaos, JD, and Advct and their energies spurred me on.

By the time John gets on the 1'2's it was a nice little gatherin' of peoples. I had to be a little more alert than usual 'cause there was this black cat that came out of nowhere at any given time to just kill on the floor, like BAM! I was still in semi-doldrum mode when on comes the "Chrome" remix...now we're talkin'! I was transported into my Vynil mode almost instantly and whatever John dropped was gonna get love from me...which set me up rather nicely for the next set!

The 5witch steps to the podium and drops his usual brand of mental mayhem, and that was all she wrote for me! Fueled on by the likes of Blue, Mz HipLash and them other two guys (with additional assistance from this bad-ass pretty, who I was told she was known as Paige) I just tore into those BlackReds like I was on my last mile! Big ups to whoever dropped my X on...I'm thinkin' it was Jai but I'm not sure. That was such a boost! I'm really tryin' to hate on this cut....I hear it so many times now and I should be tired of it...but dammit, I'm just a weak-ass in its presence! In the meantime my fellow PATHer Bianca's gettin' her Paparazzi on, snappin' at the chaos in progress...I do hope she's got my good side!

Then it was Advct's turn to increase the body count. As always, leave it to him to drop that hybrid style of his to make a head go, "I don't know this cut, but damn, you can't front on the beat!" He seemed to have a few difficulties with the sound but it was not a minus...everyone was was havin' a good time and only my ass was over-analyzin' the set! Besides, he more than made up for it by droppin' "February War" on us, and me, Blue and The King Himself just went nuts! I'll never get enough of how the onlookers peep our descent into KickStomp madness when this cut is aired...it's a cross between "what the hell?" and "they're killin' on that song!" (I personally like the former.) Even better was to be joined by some other chick and Mz DS Herself...no shrinking violet, this grrl is! My only fear was that I might have put too much emphasis on it...after all, The Dyzz was up next and I didn't wanna "old" out now!

It's been too long since I've heard this man and I was gonna make sure I squeeze out every ounce of sweat for his set. It started out a little different but by the fourth song it was a go! Ahhh....just close my eyes and let him drop me off a cliff! He brought out some unknowns to the ears as well as the SureFires...you know it was a done deal when he plopped on "Aetherkrieg" and some able assistance from Sol Himself! I said it before and I'll say it again: that is one of the most strangely intoxicatin' joints to ever grace my ears...it's not The X or the EAD remix, but it's darn close! I don't know if it's that warpy whip on the beat or the German chanting (they could be cursin' me out and I couldn't care less!) but it gets you right here (points to solar plexus)! There was a point where he dropped a cut that was played by Sol earlier, and I took that to get some breathin' space and a Pepsi. On the way out I got shooked out of my Tims by Lady Aries(!), which made step all on her friend Spaz. I've gotten to know and dance alongside this man for a minute and change now (he was the one I kept callin' "Three Step Stomp" in my Q-posts) and I finally got his name, and his history, to boot (12+ years on the scene? Wow...you know I'll be comin' to him to further my edumacation!). I shot across the street to get my fluids right and I head backs in the club. As I get downstairs, what do I hear? "I AM...SINISTAR"!! That's one of my drinks-down songs, no question (in this case it was my sody-pop)! I jumped right in the middle of the BlackReds and, quite simply, lost my fool head...and cramp-free at that! And, learnin' from that experience I took a breather with the quickness, "rewardin'" myself with that Pepsi...scrum-dilly!

So I'm sittin' on the sidelines, chattin' with Blue and Mz DS (as well as gettin' distance-cozy with Paige when she sat down in the chair for a hot minute) and who should drop in but The Shiny One Herself! It was cool to just talk to her as well as gettin' photo-opped with her before she took to the floor. Not one to pass up a chance to get some Shiny Time I got right up there with her, meshin' in with the mayhem that was caused by Spaz and his peoples during Stalag's second set. From there it was just an awesome way to TakeDown and end it with yet another teeth-grindin' run from The 5witch. It was gettin' so good too....but I had to make like Seinfeld and leave on a high note. Good thing I did, 'cause MTA was also havin' its way with me...not only my MetroCard was ganked of its fare (in all fairness the clerk let me in free) I had to go Downtown Brooklyn just to get back to The Deuce! Grrr! I b-b-barely made my Paterson bus (like two minutes before departure)! To be stuck at Port Authority til 6am would have been a crummy way to end an awesome night!

Thanx to all who showed up (especially Mz Paige...d-d-dayam!)! To The Sech…if you’re readin’ this, I finally gave Blue your CDs...what, that was like 4 months ago you gave them to me? FedEx I ain't! To the DJs and especially The Dyzz, thanx for comin' thru for the anny-versy thing...it was great to see...and hear...you again! To Mz DS and The Shiny One, as always it was just killer lacin' the BlackReds with you! And to Mz HipLash, I still wanna have your babies!

Let’s do this again sometime, shall we?

I really have no idea what you mean by the "8-ball" but my first thought was definitely unwholesome recreation

:-)

Thanks for the ups.

Oh, and those sound issues are what happen when I have a bit too much to drink

I think that might be best. Can you put a key list in for names, also? I can figure out who a bunch of the people are, but some just confound me.

CONFOUND ME, I say :!:

I think he intends for that to be the case. It just wouldn't be a VynilRob report if it didn't make you think and decipher who's who!

Oh, and to clear an error: the pretty I referred to as Paige is actually named Cage. Thanx for the correction, Blue!
