Oh to the dayam...what an effin' night!

I made this particular run for two reasons...to carry on Mz DS's belated birf'day celebration and to see two other folks, Lady Blue and The Kaotic One...and got more than I bargained for. I gets into the city with good timing and connections, and I was at the the doors of The Pyramid almost before I knew it. No sooner than I was guest-listed (I still chuckle when I hears that) I hear one of my fave classics waftin' from the main room: Gary Numan's "Cars"! You know I got to have that! I tossed my bag in a corner and proceeded to show my plumage to a certain audience of one. Yeah, I know she's taken, but let a fella dream, okay? I saw Sol passin' thru and I told him I'd be downstairs in a minnit, and after 3 joints (songs for the metaphorically challenged) I made my way down the familiar steps.

Holy cheese and crackers...I literally walked into a 5witch set in progress! I ditched my stuff with the quickness and I was on the BlackReds instantly! Now, I don't know what it was about that moment but for some reason everything was jellin'...Jai dropped the SureFires nearly back to back to back, I had this nicely open floor all to myself (save The Aileys) and I was in the throes of a New York summer! What more can a Brooklyn Grey ask for? The man even dropped two of my faves: Pzycho Bitch's "Wake Up"...and "Spitfire"...I couldn't contain myself any longer. I was on a one-man suicide run! I vowed right there that I would not leave this floor until the legs lost all bionic feeling (big up to JD for the assists). I knew I looked like quite the character out there, but when The Guilders bless you with the audio goods, only an idiot would not take advantage!

This was the same with Sol's set...he brought out the joints in his own style and it was just as awesome! And just like Jai, he blessed me with yet another one of my cuts: The "Chrome" remix! I couldn't stop my hysterical laughter over my good fortune and I went at it just as hard as Jai's run. During his set I got to see Mz DS come in, who pulled me to the side to intro me to her sister and her mans (or was it her husband?) During that the podium switched, and it was The Advct's turn. As always, he delevered the crazy cuts with authority to keep up the onslaught. By now there was a pretty fair crowd and we were all in the mix! I stopped to take a quick Energy break breather and absorb the area.

Once I returned I found The Stalag on the 1-2's and Spaz and his peoples droppin' it hard on the floor. I jumped in alongside him and was further amped by his presence. For a minute I thought he was gonna go Bill Bixby over these two cats who were just totally out of control, but I didn't need to be worried...he knew them! Soon the legs gave way and I had to sit down and look on. I went and got some more liquid nourishment as well as some Fig Newtons and ate while watchin' the crowd.

Then it was Jai's turn again and he brought the more intensified goods. Once I saw Sol, his ladylove Evelynn, JD and Mr. SexBlood formin' a circle I knew what was to come...and sure enough, I got dragged into it by JD. Alongside the Spanish Pretty Posse (ask Katy, she knows 'em...I don't), we lost our fool heads. I was in crazy pain but I just couldn't bring myself to stop...it was just too damn good! After some floor time with Mz DS I finally took it down...just as The Kaotic One steps in! Arrrgh! All I could do was watch while he and JD lit up the BlackReds with their 8-step style...grrr! I wanted in on that run! I was actually envious of those two for havin' all the fun!

Then my second reason walks in: Lady Blue, complete with blue hair (and dress!). I was very happy to see her again after last week. She even hit me off with a specially made vinyl wristband (which broke on my wrist while I was sleepin' on the 190...waaaah!...I was thoroughly pissed about that). We had a nice small chat at the bar about the haps in her (and Joe's) life and again, I couldn't be more prouder of these two. I'll miss them at the club but I know it's for the betterment of their lives, so it's a trade-off I can live with. Soon it was 3AM, and after sayin' my goodbyes to everyone, Paterson bound was I.

Again: off the chain! I don't know what it is about summer runs in New York but I am so glad I have somewhere to go whenever the need arises! Thanx to all the Guilders that made it possible to enjoy myself. Sick, sick sets all around! Big ups to all that were with me on the BlackReds...whether I knew you or not, your presence was greatly appreciated! Much love to Blue and Joe, of course...you guys are up there with My Mentors!

I think the dumbest thing I did was to get way too amped, way too early...I couldn't help it, though...you guys were playin' so many of my faves so damn close to each other I was literally tryin' to keep that floor all to myself!

Thank God you didn't play the EAD and/or the "Actung" remixes...you'd be spendin' the night in jail for causin' cardiac arrest on my old arse!

Not only will more people hear you, and be more likely to help, but they will be curious as to why you were having a heart attack. And when you tell them, in between strained breaths, that the music was so good in the basement of The Pyramid they will come and drink with us. They will have to so as to avoid your wild screams of pain.
