Loop Playing: Intro from "Taken In", Mike and The Mechanics, in the key of G
(sometimes I like hearin' just a piece of a song at random)

As promised, I returned to The Pryamid for another AG run (jeez, didn't I just leave from here?). Anyways it was more for a couple of things: to catch up on Things Blue and The Kaotic One's DJ debut..

Despite a couple of MTA mishaps I still managed to get there by 10:20. I went downstairs and gave the proper dappage to staff and patrons alike. Back upstairs for a quick taste of the 80s. The pretty I mentioned from last week was there so I made sure I was seen while flexin' to the tunes of The Clash ("don't you ever stop/long enough to start/get that car/outta that gear!"), Madness ("Our House") and one of my all-time faves, Heaven 17's "Let Me Go". Warmed up? Check. Ready to get Dusty? Yep. Left another mental mark on my "target"? Of course. Gawd, I am so, so dawg!

Back downstairs for a little more warmin' up on the beloved BlackReds. Took an important sidebar chat with Lady Blue (well, more like stair-chat...my reaction to what she told me brought out the "what dammits" with a vengence, so we had to take me to the staircase to calm me down). She spoke, I listened, we politicked, I gave suggestions and that was that. While I can't divulge the meat and potatoes of what was said, I'll just say it left me in a serious state of euphoria. I was beside myself with stupid giddyness. With that extra oomph I took to the BlackReds with a vengence, with Blue right out there with me.

Then it was time for The Kaotic One's DJ debut. Earlier he had posted that he will playin' some joints from his roots (thanx for the heads up on that, sire) so I went on that mindstate, a la Brian C'ant (the litmus test of tunes unknown). Look for the feel of what the track gives off and go from there. I closed my eyes and went where the songs took me. Far from what AG usually throws down but the history of who he is was there...it's like listenin' if you were chillin' at his crib, y'know? I was diggin' the oriental joint (from what Blue told me) more mentally than physically. Once those got their respected airplay he brought some harder thumpers, includin' this joint that a seriously amped tempo...I had to break down my dance steps to half in order to follow it (no way I was gonna do 32 steps per measure...that's suicide even by my standards!). All in all, it was something different, but definitely educational. It just makes you marvel at how vast music is. You think you've heard it all, and someone comes along to prove you wrong. As it should be.

Then The 5witch comes on and turns it up a notch. Had a farly nice floor goin' on and it was just swell. The second song he dropped was none other than a cut I myself made, called "Cowboy Dust"...snippets of Boys Don't Cry on a homemade Powernoise-like beat (it was made for the Electro Rodeo run but things were set up to where I couldn't get it on). I won't lie, it was a surreal feeling, like hearin' your voice on a recorder...you know it's you but it doesn't remotely even sound like you. Really strange. I wonder how does Wilheim (Methodical) or Lenny (Cenotype) or Flak (same name) feel when they hear themselves or their music in a public setting. But I digress. With "me" outta the way it was bang from there....infectious teeth grinders that pretty much had us gone!

John was on next, I believe. He dropped his plates and the peoples that were present just had at it. SureFires here, personal faves there. The BlackReds were well covered with the likes of Blue, King Kaos, DJ Advct, JD, The Mouse (holy effin' cheese and crackers...and yeah, that's my drought talkin'...no shame in my game), Mz DS as well as a few upper-level stragglers and that crew of pretties with their mans (I was told that they were Mexican?). Havin' a grand ol' time, I must say. Then The Stalag gets on and drops the Lenny Crew Faves, which meant they were in the building. Sure enough the took the floor, laid down the laws, and then broke them (thanx for that one, Steely Dan)! This pretty much went into the hours of closing, with Sol and 5witch tag-teamin' the 1-2's...and that's when things took an odder turn.

The lights flicker, signalin' it's time to break out. I was offered a ride home so I got to stay on to what I thought was gonna be simply packin' up the gear. Um, no. The guys are playin' Freestyle joints ("Take Me In Your Arms"? The helll?) and heaven help me...Usher??? The small band of peoples left are doin' Lil' Jon/Rick James imitations. From there it got a little more nuttier. The 5witch drops some underground House joint and just like that, everyone's lined up for...walkway runnin'? I mean, you walk the length of the floor, pimp/strut/sashay/sway/vogue, whatever. Even dragged me into the mess (I'ma so get you for that, Blue). Then it was on to whipchain tag (The Mouse caught what looked to be a bad one) which turned into a "beatdown" for Kaos from said Mouse and Blue. Just utter insanity for what was s'posed to be packin' up the stuff...and funny thing was, they were! Soon we're all outside sayin' our goodbyes and recappin' the fun and the madness of the night (hey, they don't call it Asylum Guild for nothin'!). After tryin' to hunt down a cab and some chocolate milk for Blue (mind you, she was eatin' a chocolate donut), Jersey bound were we. And even that was nutty! Peep it: me, The C'ant, DJ Advct and Jai piled into John's car...with The Mouse laid out across the three of us in the backseat (with threats of queefin', no less)!

Probably one of my strangest AG runs yet...but I'd be a liar if I said I didn't like it!

Aiight, I'm done with this...time to gets my eat on!
